In Turkey, each registered medical device has a unique barcode number. This number is called as UBB no ‘Ulusal Bilgi Bankası numarası (National Data Bank number)’. If a gown, drape or procedure pack which is manufactured in Turkey doesn’t have a barcode number then it is not a medical device.
If a gown or drape, manufactured in Turkey, has a barcode number, then you can check this number by using an app which is called as ‘ÜTS Mobil’. Users can track a medical device with its barcode number and find all information about it by using this app.
Please note that, UBB no has to be printed on labels of the products if it is a registered medical device.
Why is it important to check the UBB no (barcode number) of products from Turkey? Because, only real medical device manufacturers with ISO 13485 and CE certification can be registered by Ministry of Health of Turkey and only these registered companies can get UBB numbers.
